I am relocating to Eastern Connecticut for one year starting mid-August 2008. I am a 48 year old, male business professor at UConn in need of a place to live. I would like to have convenient access to the Storrs area, but I don't necessarily need to live in Storrs. In fact, I am finding the area between 20 and 35 minutes from campus seems to offer the best value for fees. I would prefer a furnished residence which includes an internet hook up. I listen to music and don’t watch much TV (just before going down).

I am not interested in too much house (renting an entire, three or four bedroom residence) or too little (being packed in like a sardine). I am seeking a one- to two-bedroom apartment or private area of someone's home to rent. I am clean, organized, quiet and spend a great deal of time at work.

I have two plans: one involves living near UConn more or less full-time; the other involves coming in to teach and attend to various duties over a three day period and keeping DC as my home base. In the event living near UConn is my base, my children live seven hours away so I will be commuting to their place in the DC area approximately twice a month and over the Thanksgiving, spring and winter breaks. That means that the period from August 10, 2008 to May 10, 2009, taking into account the monthly schedule and the breaks, I am looking for 22 total weeks of housing. Said differently, I will be a pretty low impact camper as I will only be in the house 55% of the time. In the event DC is my base, I will be in the UConn area for about 14 total weeks. In either case, a pretty low impact on the housing in question. I am open to a variety of living situations, so please keep my somewhat unique situation in mind.

I have a variety of positive, non-work interests including bicycle camping.

I have possibly the best trained yellow/chocolate lab you have ever encountered. We live off Rock Creek Park in DC. He goes without a collar and a leash because he responds precisely to voice and hand signals. The picture is of me, my dog and his brother; my dog has the stripe on his nose.

I am visiting the Eastern Connecticut area shortly to identify a place to live.

Thanks for your interest!
