14" Zildjian Avedis hi hats - 1980's New Beat pairing at medium 1026/1360 gm weighting. These would work well for rock, R&B, progressive, fusion, metal, funk, and other bold music genres. Vintage 14's are more responsive, warmer, and slightly more complex in tonality than many modern New Beats. They were designed to project and cut through the mix. The patina also has the benefit of making these drier and warmer in tone. You won't get that on new ones. And these have never been cleaned or polished.
These are in nice shape with legible logos, matching patina, and considerable brilliance remaining. The edges of the cymbals are essentially perfectly smooth. And of course no cracks, waves, dents, dings, or flea bites. There is just the faintest of ovaling in the bell holes which most sellers fail to mention....extremely minor. Very nice shape for 30-35 yr old hi hats....and ready for another 30 yrs. Brand new "A" Zildjian New Beat hi hats cost $370 from Zildjian or the major retailers like Sweetwater. When purchasing similar used ones off Ebay consider that you don't get to try them out first. If you don't like how they sound or look, you're stuck with them. In hand they will always have more defects than the seller discloses. This nice vintage pair which you get to test drive first.....$115.
I have other hi hats and cymbals for sale. See the "more ads by this user" link on the right side of the page.
