In my quest to find a simple PA system that works well for my Native American Flute and does not cost a fortune, I have sampled several systems when I find them on sale. I am still searching for "the right fit" for my needs and am re-selling the units that didn't work for me ... they are new, not demos, not re-boxed, not 2nds, etc.. I tried'em out for 15 minutes and decided they simply are not appropriate for my needs. Below are some of my offerings (new, in boxes). If something in a Bundle appeals to you "a-la-carte", we might be able to work something out! If you need help understanding/operating them, I will gladly give a tutorial. :)
A) brand: LyxPro, model: SABT-8 8" woofers, 200 Watts
OK, this is a weird one. I saw advertised what appeared to be a near-perfect speaker for me ... and it was being discontinued so it was heavily discounted. However, they turned out to be partly defective and not good for my needs. Their Bluetooth and Aux-In features are wonky and un-usable! I bought FOUR of them but can't return them because of the closeout sale. :-(
Sooo ... although their Bluetooth and Aux-In features are no good, their main PA function does work ... strictly for use with a microphone - that's it (just ignore all the other fancy inputs!). To be honest, they are pretty bad ... I'd consider them "toys" for kids to play with for play fun Karaoke. They do have internal rechargeable batteries, so that's a handy feature.
I'll sell them for $50, but include $40 of accessories!
- includes your choice of either:
* a Samson R21 wired mic ($20) and an XLR mic cable ($5), or
* a GemSound GWM-42 VHF hand-held wireless mic ($25) = (needs A/C power for the receiver and
batteries for the transmitter/mic.).
- includes a Mic Stand ($15)
These might be best for your kids to play with, but can be useful for things like classrooms, bingo calling, etc.
B) Fisher "Party Speaker" Bundle = actually have (2) of these, @ $100 each. You can buy one, or both.
- Fisher FBX822 speaker: Inputs = BlueTooth, 1/4" Mic jack, 3.5mm (1/8"), USB, Micro card
- Built-in Li-Ion battery = outdoor use! (also includes and A/C outlet cord)
- fancy colored lights that can be turned off
- extremely lightweight @ 8 lbs = easy to move from room to room when listening to Bluetooth Music
- Samson R21 microphone with cable
- small Tripod Speaker stand (4-feet tall, Lightweight-not for larger speakers), choice of Red or Green
This is a fun, useful, versatile speaker, for personal use - but, its PA function is really not loud enough, nor of high enough quality for “performing”. I bought two of them with the hopes that they could be used to amplify my flute playing - alas, they cannot handle the higher-pitched flutes well ... they distort a tad. The “sub-standard” sound (by MY standards) is only when using the microphone feature - the music playback quality is really quite nice ... accurate and balanced (but not especially loud for its size).
I sampled a few similar-class (features/price) units from QFX, Pyle, Gemini, and some "no-name" off brands. This Fisher was, IMHO, the best of the bunch. It does not get very loud, but it's louder and clearer/fuller than the others. One can play music via an MP3 player (insert you thumb drive or Micro Memory Card, full of MP3s) or via your cell phone via BlueTooth and then use the mic to sing along with the music ... strictly for fun, not for a professional setting. I am a budget-minded shopper - these prices were the best I could find. The PA function might be OK for things like giving a speech, or a toast, in a small private room of a restaurant, as for something like a bridal party rehearsal dinner, or it might be OK for a classroom or small conference room, but it will not cut it for an outdoor event or a large room. It is very lightweight and easy to move around. It would make a nice Karaoke TOY for kids.
