All internal components are cleaned and checked for any wear, defects, and replaced if necessary.
The treble horn is cleaned and checked for wear, deflector mounting cracks, or broken from the horn. Any defects are noted and repaired. The Horn is painted white. The Leslie horn re-assembled with new thrust and rubber washers. The horn driver is selected and tested for professional use. The Idler horn take-up bearing is removed and replaced. The Horn drive belt is replaced.
The lower bass speaker rotor assembly is disassembled, cleaned and painted white. The spindle grommets were replaced with new rubber grommets. Upper and lower ball bearings are removed and replaced with new ball bearings. Lower rotor spindle is now replaced, and rotor assembly is checked for mechanical balance. The bass speaker is selected and tested for professional use. Lower rotor drive belt is replaced.
The custom crossover assembly for the speaker is built from scratch from selected components and point to point hand wiring method. The components of each bass and treble filter are designed to match a selected frequency response curve, and then bench and amplifier tested, and trimmed where necessary.
Drive motor stack assemblies are dis-assembled, cleaned, and checked for mechanical wear. Internal shims on fast motor are checked and replaced as necessary. Slow motors are dis-assembled, cleaned, new shaft O-ring and spring replaced. Lower slow motor has oil slinger attached to its shaft. Checked and cleaned or replaced if necessary. All electrical wiring to the motors are checked for cracking, chafing, etc. and replaced where necessary.
Upon special request and additional cost, new drive motor kit from Locomotion Pro can be fitted in place of the older vintage motor stacks for reliability and repeated professional use, especially useful in taking the speaker on the road for touring bands. Venues and recording studios will benefit from the use of these motors, as maintenance and frequent adjustments are practically eliminated.
Power amplifier is built from scratch with selected components and assembled with the point to point hand wiring method. The custom amplifiers still use the same time tested circuits as the originals did, but with modern materials and improvements. The transformers and filter choke is custom wound to Dursonix, LLC specifications which contain improvements vs. the original design. Vacuum tube sockets, resistors, capacitors, etc. are hand selected and tested individually prior to installation into the amplifier. Vacuum tubes are selected and tested prior to the installation into the amplifier, and tested for microphonics, transconductance and grid leakage. Once the tubes pass these tests, they are installed into the amplifier. The amplifier once assembled, goes through several QC, bench and speaker tests. Amplifier is now connected to the custom crossover assembly and to the test speaker, and rigorously tested on both bench and speaker. Upon passing all acceptance tests, the amplifier is installed into the intended speaker, and is ready for final acceptance testing.
Upon special request and cost a spare set of vacuum tubes (12AU7A, 0C3, 6550 / KT88) can be purchased at the time of manufacture. This is especially useful for high reliability use (recording studios, touring bands), whereas vacuum tube replacement on site is accomplished without major down time impact to the performance.
The speaker is then connected to a Hammond Organ, put through its paces (volume adjust, expression pedal exercised, etc.), for final acceptance testing. Any problems that arise from this final test is addressed and corrected. A bonus was just added. A brand new 15' Six Pin Leslie Cable is now being included with the sale of this very special Custom Updated Leslie 122 Speaker.
Customer is purchasing a speaker that has been restored to excellent condition and rigorously tested.
