Hello. First and foremost this is not for sale. I am posting in hopes I can get some information on this beautiful piece. And someone who is fluent with chinese symbols. What I know so far is that it is a foo dog. Usually they are suppose to be in pairs, a male and a female. Male has a ball and female has the cub. The one I have the front paw is on the ball and the rear paw is on one of the cubs? So first off I am not sure if this is a male or a female foo dog. And also it has 8 cubs climbing all over it. Not sure what this symbolizes? I am pretty sure this was hand carved out of fine yellow chinese soapstone. One piece. Very intricate! There is no markings on the carving itself. But the pedstal it rests on. Their is 2 boxes with chinese inscriptions. I spent some time trying to look online to understand the markings but to no avail I can not figure them out. Anyone out there that can help sign some light on the matter would be most appreciated!!! I will display photographs and pictures of the markings too. Thank you to anyone that helps!
